On the berths of the General Authority of Alexandria Port, at exactly ten o’clock this morning, Friday, October 7, 2022, the cargo ship SEAWAY SWAN, which is loaded with 4 giant cranes STS for the operation of the multi-purpose Tahya Misr station, was left on berths from 55 to 62 in Alexandria Port. This ship is one of the latest ships that was built as a heavy load carrier. Its construction was completed and it entered service in the current year 2022, with a length of 218 m, a width of 43 m, a draft of up to 8.4 m, a maximum speed of 13.9 knots, and a maximum total load of up to 50,000 tons, and the ship carries Norwegian nationality, coming from the Chinese port of Qingdao. The ship was received by the Ministry of Transport, represented by a number of its leadership, namely, Rear Admiral / Nihad Shaheen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Alexandria Port, and Mr. Rear Admiral / Abdel Qader Darwish, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Group for Multi-Purpose Stations, in addition to a number of leaders The prominent Alexandria Port Authority, where the marine units of the Alexandria Port Authority, including locomotives and pilot boats, immediately received the ship, its entry into the scope of Alexandria Port ii, and helped it quickly and efficiently in completing the navigation process inside the port, all the way to its berth on the berth allotted to it. It is noteworthy that the project to build a multi-purpose Tahya Misr station on berths 55-62 in Alexandria Port is one of the largest mega projects currently being implemented in Alexandria Port at an investment cost of EGP 7 billion. The project aims to increase the port’s handling and storage capacity of containers and general cargo. The project consists of berths with a length of 2500 m, with depths ranging from 14.5 - 17.5 m, and a floor area of 545 thousand m2.
