The terminal is considered one of the most important projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport in the field of maritime transport and will contribute to raising the classification of Alexandria Port and to receive ships with large tonnages and increasing the volume of handling of containerized cargoes in the port. Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir: The project will contribute to increase Alexandria Port ranking and it is necessary to adhere to specified times forexecuting the terminal to be ready forreceivingthe huge ships in the beginning of 2022 Within the framework of continuous and periodic monitoring of the implementation rates of a number of projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport The Minister of Transport, Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir had an inspection tour in Alexandria Port accompanied by Lieutenant General Osama Rabei, head of the Suez Canal Authority, during hisfollowing the executing and construction of the multipurpose terminal in the port on the berths 55 to 62, and he held an expanded meeting with the executing companies heads and the members of the board of directors of the Egyptian Group Company for Multipurpose terminalhe reviewed the steps and stages of implementing the project as well as the full investment costs andcash& laws required during the next two years to cover the costs of establishing the infrastructure of the terminal aswell as the work of during times the minister of transport directed the necessity of adhering to the specific timing of implementation which take 24 months to be ready for receiving ships of large sizes at the beginning of 2022 stressingtheneed of the Portfacilitations for the project successon time,in cooperating with all State agencies. He stressed that the project is considered one of the most important projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport as it contribute to receiving the port for ships of large tonnage due to the deepening of the waterway of the port, he added thatthe terminal will contribute to increasing the port capacity in containerized cargo handling in addition that the terminal will contribute inenhancing the role of Alexandria port to be gateway for crossing Europe's trade towards Africa and vice versabesides that the terminal will be one of the main branch of the main logisticsterminal which will be constructed behind the portand it is constructed one of the comprehensive plane for the marine Egyptian ports, whose study is nearing completion and which time to transform Egypt into a global center for energy, trade and logistics at the regional, African and global levels. It is worth noting that the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Stations is a state-owned company, in which the (Alexandria Port Authority, the Suez Canal Authority, the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport, and Alexandria Containers Company) contribute to it, It is responsible for building, managing and operating the station and the terminal berths are 2450 m and include trading yards of half a million square meters and can receive from 6-7 ships at the same time, and are able to handle 12-15 million tons of cargo annually that will be divided into 3 trading stations (Containers - General cargo - Cars).
