As part of the integrated efforts of state tourism agencies, and in implementation of the political leadership's directives to encourage tourism and the instructions of the Ministry of Transport, the port of Alexandria received two cruise ships during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, with a total of 2,109 passengers, at the start of the 2026 season. The ship ASTORIA GRANDE docked at the passenger terminal on Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, arriving for a tourist visit to the port, carrying 1,118 passengers.
The Alexandria Port Authority received the ferries GRANDE SYEZIA and ANJI VIRTUE on Friday, March 20, 2026. These are modern Ro-Ro vessels that recently joined the global merchant fleet in 2025, reflecting the port's technical and operational readiness to receive the latest and largest maritime units of all types. Port officials received the ferries, which moored at the specialized Ro-Ro cargo berths.
The Alexandria Port Authority today welcomed the giant vessel WEN JING KOU (IMO registration number 9997555), one of the world's largest LNG-powered Ro-Ro vessels, in an event that reflects the port's technical and operational readiness to receive the latest and largest environmentally friendly marine vessels. The vessel was received by the Alexandria Port Authority's leadership, headed by Rear Admiral, Chairman of the Board, and docked
