As part of the Alexandria Port Authority's commitment to developing its operations and enhancing efficiency, a coordination meeting was held today, chaired by Rear Admiral, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Operations. Participants included members of the port community from warehousing companies, clients, regulatory bodies, customs brokers, transport companies, the import/export customs department, and the Central Administration for Customs Compliance Technology, which is responsible for radiation detection. The meeting aimed to explore ways to improve the working environment within the port. The meeting focused on identifying any obstacles facing clients or operating companies and listening to their suggestions directly. This will contribute to the swift implementation of necessary measures to address these challenges and facilitate the movement of goods. The meeting also addressed the issue of truck congestion, if any, within the port's yards or at its gates. Practical mechanisms were established to address this congestion immediately by strengthening coordination among the various stakeholders and implementing flexible operational solutions. These solutions will ensure the smooth flow of goods to and from the Alexandria Port Authority, the largest port in the country. During the meeting, the Alexandria Port Authority emphasized the importance of teamwork among all stakeholders in the port community. It stressed the need to adhere to regulatory procedures and intensify efforts to reduce clearance and handling times, thereby minimizing congestion and positively impacting the speed of vessel and cargo turnaround. This meeting comes within the framework of directives from the Ministry of Transport and the Alexandria Port Authority's commitment to continuous communication with its partners. It also reflects the Authority's adoption of flexible policies that support improved service levels and enhance the port's competitiveness as a pivotal logistics hub serving regional and international trade.
