Alexandria Port Authority received on Tuesday 16th March 2021 a French diplomatic delegation with presidency of His Excellency Mr. Stephane Romatet - Ambassador of France - it includes both the French Consul in Alexandria and the Economic Council at the French Embassy, they were received by Captain / Tarik Shaheen - Chairman of Alexandria Port Authority, this visit comes in light of the good relations between the Egyptian and French sides and the instructions of Lt. Gen. \ Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, to support and strengthen the bonds of mutual cooperation in the fields of transport, especially in the maritime transport industry because of the historical relations between the two sides and their long experience in maritime trade and various port activities, the visit dealt with discussions on ways to develop common cooperation between Alexandria Port Authority and French ports, especially in light of the French side's interest to participate in port investment projects in Egypt and the Egyptian side's interest to support the common maritime trade movement and benefit from the experiences gained at the international level, it is important to mention that a partnership memorandum of understanding had already been signed between Alexandria Port and the French Port of Marseille in 2019 and the efforts of the two parties towards achieving optimal use of this memorandum were discussed, which mainly deals with the exchange of experiences and training in technical and operational fields and the latest technical means in the field of transport industry, in the same subject, the ambassador expressed the French side's interest in participating in a number of projects to be implemented in Alexandria Port, especially the multi-purpose terminal project in Alexandria Port, especially since the Chairman of the CMA-CGM Company - one of the largest French companies and shipping lines - met with both His Excellency President \ Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi - President of the Republic - and Dr.\ Mustafa Madbouly - Prime Minister - and His Excellency Lieutenant General / Kamel the Minister - Minister of Transport - due to the company's desire to participate in this giant project, as it is intended to sign a contract in this regard in the near future, the visit was concluded by inspecting some of the most important investment projects in Alexandria Port, where the French delegation praised the professional vision of Alexandria Port in the areas of development, operation and concern for safety and environmental standards, towards a complete transformation into a green port and a smart port to keep pace with the global progress the maritime transport industry is currently witnessing, his Excellency also thanked the accompanying delegation, insuring the goodness of the Egyptian-French relations and the continuous efforts by the port of Alexandria towards strengthening international relations with ports and friendly countries to achieve mutual advantages and benefits from the components of the accumulated experience gained within the framework of the Egyptian government's keenness to advance development in all fields.
