A delegation from the Port of Marseille, France, paid an official visit to the Alexandria Port Authority.

The Alexandria Port Authority received an official delegation from the Port of Marseille, France, headed by the Port's Director of Business Development, at the Authority's headquarters. The visit aimed to enhance bilateral cooperation and follow up on the implementation of the joint declaration of intent signed in 2025 between the Port of Alexandria (Egypt), the Port of Marseille (France), the Port of Algiers (Spain), and the Port of Beirut (Lebanon). The declaration aims to strengthen cooperation in the areas of maritime transport, green sea corridors, and sustainable maritime development in the Mediterranean. The delegation was received by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority and other Authority officials. The delegation was welcomed, and discussions were held regarding the framework for implementing joint cooperation under the declaration of intent. This aims to activate an effective partnership between the four ports within a shared vision for maritime connectivity and logistics development. The discussions included mechanisms for launching a green maritime lane between the ports of Alexandria and Marseille, in accordance with environmental sustainability standards. The focus will be on reducing carbon emissions through the adoption of low-emission fuels and environmentally friendly operating practices, as well as enhancing the digital transformation of administrative and operational systems in the ports. This aims to increase efficiency, expedite procedures, and facilitate logistical connectivity. During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of integrating efforts in these areas to support shared objectives of developing maritime and logistics services, enhancing the ports' capacity to accommodate the rapid developments in the global maritime transport sector, and creating a more environmentally friendly operating environment and business sustainability. The visit also included a field tour for the delegation of the port's key facilities, including the Tahya Misr multipurpose terminal, the passenger terminal, and a tour of the berths. The delegation also visited the Alexandria Port Museum, where they were briefed on the operational capabilities and development projects undertaken by the port authority as part of its comprehensive development plan. Both sides expressed their commitment to continued joint coordination to establish the technical implementation frameworks for the joint declaration of intent and to define the next activation phases. This will strengthen cooperation and integration, serving the economic and environmental interests of the maritime sector in the region. At the conclusion of the visit, the Alexandria Port Authority expressed its appreciation to the French delegation, emphasizing its commitment to strengthening relations with its international partners and continuing joint efforts to achieve a more sustainable and efficient future in the maritime transport and ports sector.
