As part of the integrated efforts of state tourism agencies and in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to encourage tourism and the instructions of Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel El-Wazir Minister of Transport the Alexandria Port received the cruise ship STAR FLYER this morning Friday 26 June 2026 with a total of 179 passengers. The ship berthed at the passenger terminal in Alexandria Port arriving from the Greek port of Rhodes carrying 103 tourists and 76 crew members. The shipping agent is Gulf Agency and the ship is scheduled to depart the port the same day for Port Said. The main nationalities of the passengers are French, German, and British. The STAR FLYER is a world-class sailing cruise ship built in 1991 and currently sailing under the Maltese flag. Its classic design inspired by historic four-masted sailing ships offers a unique tourist experience that blends heritage with modern amenities, making it a favorite for upscale and cultural cruises in the Mediterranean. The ship was welcomed by several officials from the Alexandria Port Authority in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Egyptian Tourism Authority the Alexandria Governorate and the Ministry of Interior represented by the Alexandria Port Police Department. The Passenger Operations Department at the maritime passenger terminal handled the reception and smooth processing of passengers, enabling them to proceed with their tours and visit the most prominent historical and cultural landmarks in Alexandria. The Port Authority ensured the safe entry and exit of the vessel escorting it from arrival to berthing using tugboats and pilot boats with close monitoring from the radar pilot tower to guarantee the smooth and safe passage of maritime traffic. This is all part of an integrated operational system aimed at providing the best services to cruise ships and visitors, reflecting the port's readiness to receive various types of international cruise vessels. The arrival of the STAR FLYER is a continuation of the ongoing success of the Port of Alexandria in attracting and receiving cruise ships of all sizes and types, including mega-ships and specialized vessels. This enhances the diversity of Egypt's maritime tourism product and solidifies Alexandria's position as a leading cruise destination in the Mediterranean. It also underscores the efficiency of the infrastructure and advanced services provided by the Port Authority, and its role in supporting the state's efforts to revitalize maritime tourism and boost the contribution of this vital sector to the national economy.
