The Alexandria Port Authority, headed by Rear Admiral/ Chairman of the Board, received Ms./ Xu Min Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Alexandria in the presence of several Authority leaders. The visit aimed to enhance prospects for joint cooperation and review investment opportunities and ongoing development projects within the Authority. During the meeting the depth of Egyptian-Chinese relations and their continuous development across various fields were emphasized, particularly in the maritime transport and ports sector which represents a key pillar of economic cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the People's Republic of China. The meeting addressed the development and expansion projects underway as part of the Grand Alexandria Port Project, including the comprehensive development of infrastructure specialized terminals and logistics zones which enhances its operational capabilities and solidifies its position as a regional hub for trade transport, and logistics services in the Mediterranean. The two sides also reviewed existing cooperation between the Authority and the Chinese side where Chinese companies manage and operate two container terminals in the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila in addition to participating in several ongoing strategic projects, most notably the new container terminal at Quay 1. The 100th of Dakhila Port represents a significant addition to the operational capabilities of Egyptian ports. Discussions also focused on ways to enhance cooperation with several Chinese ports, most notably Guangzhou and Qingdao with whom memoranda of understanding and twinning agreements have already been signed. Future cooperation opportunities with other Chinese ports were also explored, encompassing the exchange of technical, administrative and operational expertise digital transformation, training, capacity building, service development shipping lines and collaboration in environmental sustainability and green ports. International initiatives related to sustainable maritime transport were also discussed. The Egyptian side commended the development and modernization of Alexandria Port in recent years, praising the scale of ongoing projects and the port's advanced operational and logistical capabilities. They also expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation and exploring new investment opportunities to support maritime trade between the two sides. At the end of the visit, the delegation toured the port, observing the developments in its operations, which reflect the significant progress witnessed in the Egyptian maritime transport and port sector.
