The Minister of Transport declared that this deal is one of the results of the huge contracts that were made based on the directives of President / Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, to bring about a great and comprehensive qualitative leap in the service provided to the public passengers by railways, which the citizen began to really feels through the operation of full trains consisting of new tractors and carriages, pointing out that these carriages are scheduled to arrive today from Alexandria to the Abu Gotas workshops in Cairo in preparation for their introduction into service on the railways. The minister added that, in addition to the deal of 1,300 new carriages, which is the largest in the history of the Egyptian railways, a contract was also signed to supply 6 trains, in addition to a 6-year maintenance contract from the Spanish company Talgo, with a value of 157 million Euros, the structure of the two prototype carriages of the deal reached to the port of Alexandria several days ago where the first train of this deal is expected to arrive in March 2021, indicating that in parallel with these new deals, the current fleet of passenger carriages is being developed where 200 regular carriages are being developed in cooperation with the Semaph factory and has also been completed.
