managed to achieve a remarkable leap in both the movement of ships and the quantities of handled cargoes during the month of March 2021 compared to what was achieved during the same month of last year, as the percentage of increase in total ship traffic during March 2021 reached to be 9.5%, General Cargo ships was the highest ship type, which witnessed an increase of 11.8% compared to march of 2020, followed by liquid bulk ships by 7% in the same time the increase in total handed cargoes amounted to 3.1%, on top of which is containerized cargoes by 19% compared to march of last year, then exports increased by 33%, a total of 1.6 million tons of cargo were handled during march 2021, liquid petroleum cargoes among exports which witnessed an increase reached to be 13% On the other hand, Alexandria Port Authority witnessed within one month a significant increase in shipping traffic during the month of march of this year compared to February of the same year, by 11.7% of ships movements, this increase is due to the continuous follow-up by the concerned departments to the commitment of ships to implement the standard rates of stevedoring operations, as well as the speed of the turnover rates of the berths and the reduction of waiting and mooring times for ships under the instructions of Captain \ Tarek Shaheen – Chairman of A.P.A he stressed keep the increase of achieved rates in the handling & navigation movements, even strengthening them during the next months, while commitment to all security, safety and environmental standards. 22/4/2021
