On Wednesday 5 January 2022 the Alexandria Port Authority received a large delegation of professors and students from the French Sorbonne University. This visit comes under the directives of the Minister of Transport, and in coordination with the Egyptian Group for Multi-Purpose Stations, and within the framework of the close Egyptian-French relations and the joint strategic directions towards strengthening the investment movement and transferring joint experiences, especially in the field of maritime transport. Captain/ Tarek Shaheen received and welcomed the delegation and delivered a speech indicating the depth of the historical relations between the two sides and the extent of the huge developments that Alexandria Port has witnessed in the recent period in terms of investment projects and absorptive capacities on the one hand; On the level of technological and environmental development on the other hand, to keep pace with the global development in that industry and to meet the challenges facing international trade and logistics The students and professors of the Sorbonne University raised many questions that were answered by Mr. Rabban / Tarek Shaheen in the logistical fields and the measures taken by the Alexandria Port Authority in light of the Egyptian policy towards the developmental, environmental and investment dimensions and the strengthening of the movement of local, regional and international trade and the consolidation of the role of Egypt in general and Alexandria port in particular as a strategic trade hub in the Mediterranean and Africa After that, the delegation made a field tour in the port of Alexandria to each of the historical port museum, the marine passenger terminal, the multi-purpose Tahya Misr station currently under construction, a number of berths, and the workshop museum, which includes equipment and machines, some of which date back to the era of Muhammad Ali Pasha and the beginning of the nineteenth century twenty All members of the delegation, including professors and students, expressed their admiration for the honorable appearance of the Alexandria port and the unprecedented development movement, and their desire for more cooperation and the exchange of joint experiences.
