Within the framework of the activities of the celebration of the World Maritime Day for the year 2021 under the slogan (Seafarers at the heart of the future of maritime transport), which is organized under the auspices of Mr. Lieutenant-General / Kamel Al-Wazir - Minister of Transport and with the honor of Mr. Major General / Governor of Alexandria, Mr. Rear Admiral / Head of the Maritime Transport Sector, and Mr. Dr. / President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Chairmen of ports, chambers of commerce and navigation and a large number of important figures in the maritime transport industry, the Alexandria Port Authority succeeded in obtaining the award for the best commercial port in the field of digital transformation and the implementation of the real-time operating system for ships (JIT). This honor comes as a culmination of the efforts of Alexandria Port under the leadership of Captain / Tarek Shaheen - Chairman of the Board of Directors – The Port Authority has paid great attention to transforming it into a smart port that applies the latest international technical systems. It has also succeeded in achieving electronic interconnection systems to integrate with all companies and entities operating within the Alexandria and Dekheila ports, with its available information infrastructure network at the highest level that allowed it to be accredited. Distinctively on electronic systems, whether in terms of services provided to customers or in terms of reducing paper transactions. The port has also succeeded in implementing the system of simultaneous operation of ships (JUST IN TIME), which allows the reception of ships upon their arrival without external expectations, in a manner that increases the confidence of shipping lines in the services provided by the port of Alexandria, and increases the speed of turnover of the berths and consequently the rates of circulation and revenues and raises the Classification of the international port also contributes to the port’s vision of transforming into a green port because of the consequences of using this system to reduce the carbon emissions of ships as they sail at economical speeds. The port seeks to fully circulate the JIT system to all ships by the end of this year and to complete the process of transformation into a smart port in accordance with the highest international standards.
