In line with the directives of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, to implement the Egyptian state's vision aimed at revitalizing maritime tourism and maximizing the utilization of the tourism potential of Egyptian ports, the Alexandria Port Authority welcomed the cruise ship CRYSTAL SERENITY at its final stop in the Arab Republic of Egypt. This was part of an international cruise organized within the framework of a high-level event by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), which toured several Egyptian cities and ports, including the Suez Canal, under the theme "A Journey of Leadership for Global Tourism Leaders: Recovery, Leadership, and the Transformation Prospects for the Travel and Tourism Sector in the Next Decade. This event, hosted by the Egyptian government with broad participation from international organizations and tourism industry partners, comes at a crucial time for the global travel and tourism sector. It aims to accelerate recovery by strengthening coordination between governments and private sector leaders, thereby supporting sustainable growth and enhancing the sector's ability to face international challenges. The ship carried 202 prominent and influential figures in the global tourism and travel industry, including Egyptian ministers, international diplomats, the Chairman of the World Travel & Tourism Council, and a number of senior officials, decision-makers, CEOs, and representatives of major international companies operating in the sector. This voyage reflects the high level of coordination between various stakeholders, both governmental and international, and underscores the growing confidence in Egypt as a tourist destination and its ability to host major events that bring together tourism industry leaders from around the world, despite current geopolitical challenges. The ship was received by Rear Admiral, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, accompanied by several Authority leaders, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Transport and Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Alexandria Port Police Department. The delegation was welcomed, and the port's readiness to receive this type of high-profile international cruise was emphasized, given its ongoing development of infrastructure and operational services. The Alexandria Port Authority boasts advanced capabilities in the maritime tourism sector. The port's cruise terminal serves as Egypt's main maritime gateway and has been developed into a comprehensive center offering top-tier services to tourists and passengers. Spanning over 34,000 square meters, the terminal can accommodate up to 8,000 tourists simultaneously and features 820 meters of quays capable of receiving four large cruise ships at once. The three-story terminal includes a duty-free shop and a 24-hour shopping center with 107 ready-to-operate retail outlets, five restaurants, and three cafes, ensuring a seamless and exceptional passenger experience. This visit underscores the vital role of the Port of Alexandria as one of the most important cruise ports on the Mediterranean and the final port of call in Egypt for this international cruise. It supports the state's efforts to promote Egypt as a tourist destination and reinforces Egypt's position as a regional and global hub for tourism and travel.
