As part of the integrated efforts of the state's tourism agencies, and in implementation of the political leadership's directives to promote tourism, and the instructions of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Alexandria Port, headed by Rear Admiral Ihab Mohamed Salah, Chairman of the Board of Directors, welcomed the giant cruise ship (Ms. Norwegian Viva) on Friday morning, May 30, 2025. This is the ship's third voyage in May and its second within one week, reflecting the growing status of Alexandria Port as a global tourist destination. The ship, (Ms. Norwegian Viva) coming from the Greek port of Heraklion moored at the cruise terminal with 4,782 passengers on board including 3,322 tourists. The ship operated by Dominion Shipping Agencies is scheduled to depart on Saturday evening 31 May 2025, heading to the Turkish port of Kısıdası. The ship was received by a number of leaders from the Alexandria Port Authority including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, represented by the Regional Tourism Promotion Authority, and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Alexandria Port Police Department. The Authority ensured the safe arrival of the two ships and their escort from their entry into the port using tugs, pilot boats, and security, with close monitoring by the radar guidance tower of ship traffic to ensure the highest levels of safety. The passengers were also received by the General Administration of Passenger Movement, who supervised the completion of procedures as quickly as possible to begin their tourist program to visit the most prominent tourist, historical, and cultural landmarks in Alexandria. The event witnessed a grand reception, including distinguished artistic performances by the Storm Troupe, led by artist Ahmed Heikal. Souvenirs were also presented to passengers and tourists, as part of the Authority's commitment to enhancing the tourist experience and promoting maritime tourism in Egyptian ports.
