A boom in the trading rates of the Alexandria Port General Authority of up to 15%

Dry bulk goods, on top of wheat and grains, were at the forefront of the goods that witnessed an increase during the month of May, with an increase of 35% over the same month of the previous year, followed by the increase in the amount of general goods by 22%, and then the condensed goods by 15%. The volume of goods exported through the Alexandria Port Authority reached 2.5 million tons during May 2021. On the other hand, in turn, the maritime traffic of ships frequenting the port of Alexandria witnessed a remarkable increase during the month of May 2021 compared to its counterpart in 2020, by approximately 12%; The percentage of increase in the number of dry bulk vessels reached 32.5%, ferries 20%, and general cargo 12.5%. These significant increases in the rates of circulation and navigation traffic for the month of May 2021 come in light of the instructions and directives of Mr. Captain / Tariq Shaheen, Chairman of the Board of Directors - to achieve professionalism in the performance of work by the pilot and towing crews in the port, as well as the adoption of advanced technology by the authority’s employees to speed up the procedures related to the docking and departure of ships Raising the standard rates of loading and unloading operations and continuously striving to reduce congestion in the port.
