The movement of trading and navigation at the Alexandria Port Authority witnessed remarkable activity during the past 24 hours, as 35 ships entered and exited the Alexandria and Dekheila ports in 24 hours, most notably general cargo ships, dry bulk, containers and liquid bulk. Work is currently underway to load and unload 40 ships, including 22 general cargo ships, 11 dry bulk ships, 4 container ships and 3 liquid bulk ships. 2800 TEUs were also handled during 24 hours, as the number of imported containers reached 1420 TEUs, while the number of exported containers reached 1380 containers, representing approximately 49.3%, which constitutes a great convergence between exported and imported containers. With regard to the movement of goods handling at the Alexandria and Dekheila ports, approximately 194 thousand tons were handled during that period of various types of goods and strategic commodities, including liquid bulk, dry bulk, general goods and transit. Major General Ahmed Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors, directed the need to adhere to the procedures of insurance, industrial security, safety and occupational health in all warehouses, yards and work sites, and to follow the standard environmental criteria in all port operations to prevent pollution in all its forms.
