However, Alexandria Port has succeeded in turning the index negative to positive indicator; The volume of trading in Alexandria and Dekheila ports during the last fiscal year reached 61.3 million tons of various types of goods, an increase of 1% over the previous fiscal year. Contained goods come at the forefront of the goods that witnessed a significant increase in the last fiscal year 2020/2021 compared to the previous year 2019/2020, when more than 21.9 million tons were handled, an increase of 16% as a result of handling a larger number of HQ containers. In turn, general cargo witnessed a remarkable increase, as more than 5.7 million tons were handled, an increase of 14% over the previous fiscal year, and more than 1.6 million TEUs were handled. In general, the quantities of goods exported through the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila increased by 11% over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, as it came at the forefront of the exported goods (potatoes, onions, iron roll - rebar).
