Following the directives of Lieutenant General / Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport the Alexandria Port Authority announced the arrival of the giant container ship CMA CGM ZEPHYR today (July 19, 2025) following its transit through the Suez Canal on its journey to the port. This giant ship is one of the largest container ships in the world, It is characterized by length of 366 meters, a width of 51 meters, a draft of 53 feet, a total tonnage of approximately 164,000 tons, and a capacity of approximately 11,800 TEUs. This reflects the growing international confidence in the capabilities of Egyptian ports to receive the latest generation of giant container ships. The Authority completed all towing and pilotage procedures in accordance with the highest maritime safety standards and with outstanding operational efficiency until the ship successfully moored at Berth (27). The reception process highlights the ability of the port's modern infrastructure—including deep waterways berths and advanced pilotages and towing facilities—to accommodate vessels of this size, thanks to advance planning and operational coordination, in line with national efforts to enhance the regional competitiveness of Egyptian ports. The Alexandria Port Authority affirms its continued development of its operational capabilities and expansion of its partnerships with international shipping lines, supporting the state's goals of enhancing efficiency and attracting more investments and value-added services within the port.
