Within the framework of the President's directives to implement the project to establish the Sokhna-ElDekheila Integrated Logistics pivote for Containers to link the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Today, Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing ceremony of two commitment contracts for the two projects (construction of the superstructure, management, operation, exploitation, maintenance and re-delivery of a container terminal in Sokhna port), and (construction of the superstructure, management, operation, exploitation, maintenance and re-delivery of the container terminal at Berth 100) ineEl Dekheila). in the presence of Lieutenant General Eng. Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, and Mr. Eric Ipp, President of Hutcheson International. Mr. Rear Admiral / Nihad Shaheen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Alexandria Port, and Mr. / “Clemence Sheng”, Managing Director of “Hutchison Europe” ports, and Mr. / “Roman Simon” “MSC” signed the contract for the construction of the superstructure, management and operation Exploitation, maintenance and re-delivery of the container terminal at berth 100 in Dekheila On the sidelines of the signing. The Prime Minister affirmed the great importance that the state attaches to the development of Egyptian ports, referring to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to intensify efforts to maximize the use of Egypt's unique geographical location, and the preferential advantages, as a meeting point and passage on transportation lines. Global Maritime, and transforming that through hard effort and hard work on the part of the state into an added economic value, in cooperation with the private sector, within the framework of the process of building national capacity in various fields. Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir stated that the state is working on transforming the ports of Sokhna and Dekheila into pivotal ports, increasing Egypt's share of the global market for transit trade, in addition to serving Egyptian exports and helping to open new markets for Egyptian exports, by operating direct navigation services and increasing the ability to compete. Countries with similar products and industries, by developing integrated solutions for transportation and trading between sea container terminals, railway stations and multimodal transport services. It is noteworthy that the container terminal project at Berth 100 in Dekheila comes within the framework of the Ministry of Transport’s implementation of the plan to develop the Greater Alexandria Port to achieve the larger goal of making Egypt a global center of trade and logistics. Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir also explained that the agreement with the largest global alliance in the field of managing and operating shipping lines and international container terminals (Hutchison Alliance - COSCO - CMA - MSC) is a strong indicator of the economic feasibility of the two projects, and increases confidence in the Egyptian economy
