Within the framework of activities of the celebration of the World Maritime Day for the year 2024 which was organized by the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector on the evening of Saturday5 October 2024 . under the patronage of His Excellency Lieutenant General / Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport - the Alexandria Port Authority was honored and chosen as the best port in terms of applying safety standards, within the framework of its application of the latest and most efficient international systems to maintain maritime safety and occupational health standards and obtaining ISO 45001 for the year 2018, which is related to the standard specifications for quality in safety and occupational health. Major General / Ahmed Abdel-Moaty Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, received the honor shield, and he stressed his constant keenness to achieve the highest international standards in the field of safety and also in all other operational fields Related to the nature of the work of the Alexandria Port Authority, starting from marine services for ships to stevedoring and the services and activities complementing the integrated logistics system for maritime transport. In the same context, Mr/. Peter Nabil Fikry, Head of the Department and Deputy Director of the Laboratories Department at the General Administration for Environmental Protection, was honored for winning the Ideal Employee Award at the Port for this year. It is worth noting that the celebration of World Maritime Day for the year 2024 is held within the framework of coordination with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and in conjunction with the annual celebration organized at the end of September of each year. This year, it is held under the slogan “Navigation in the Seas of the Future - Safety First.” This year’s celebration witnessed a large presence of the leaders of the transportation and logistics industry in Egypt, in the presence of Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazr Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Lieutenant General/ AhmedKhaled, Governor of Alexandria, Lieutenant General/ Osama Rabie Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority, and Major General/ Nihad Shaheen Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport, Major General / Tarek Abdullah, Head of the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector, Professor Dr. / Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, a number of consuls of Arab and foreign sister and friendly countries, and a large number of representatives of the port community.
