Today, the Alexandria Port Authority, in coordination and cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, hosted a large African delegation comprising representatives of 17 African countries who are decision makers in the field of maritime transport. The meeting included learning about the capabilities of the Alexandria Port Authority and the huge developments it is witnessing, and discussing ways to strengthen joint relations with African brothers in the field of developing maritime transport, ports, operational processes, capacity building, and enriching inter-trade movement. The discussion also touched on how to support logistics operations and integrate modern technology and techniques into various port activities, how to achieve interconnection and integration between ports and multi-modal transport methods, and how to exploit the geographical location of the Port of Alexandria, its capabilities and its capacity to be a regional hub for maritime transport and a major outlet for trade between African countries and the continents of Europe and Asia. This visit comes in light of the general direction of the state and the directives of Mr. / Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, towards expanding the horizons of cooperation with sister African countries and providing all means of support and commercial and economic partnership. The visit also included, based on the directives of Major General / Ahmed Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, a field tour to inspect the docks and yards at the port, the marine passenger station and other port facilities, and how to implement operational processes related to maritime navigation of ships, guidance and towing, as well as inspecting the lock linking the Mediterranean Sea and the Nile River within the framework of the port authority's expansion in using various means of transportation to transport goods to and from the port, whether by land, railway or river transport.
