Following the directives of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and in line with the Alexandria Port Authority's commitment to upholding the principles of integrity, transparency, and adherence to international standards in maritime transactions, the Authority welcomed a delegation from the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) on Sunday, February 1, 2026. MACN is an international organization accredited by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and aims to eliminate corruption in the maritime industry and promote global trade. This visit comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed with the maritime transport and logistics sector and is part of ongoing efforts to improve the ranking of Egyptian ports in terms of integrity and governance. This will enhance their regional and international competitiveness and bolster the confidence of the business community and global shipping companies in the Egyptian port system. This is MACN's second visit to the Alexandria Port Authority in recent months, during which they reviewed and evaluated the measures taken by the Authority to comply with international anti-corruption standards and ensure the safety and transparency of maritime transactions. Representatives of the organization, headed by the official responsible for the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed their appreciation for the institutional efforts and regulatory measures implemented by the Port Authority. They affirmed that these efforts effectively contribute to eliminating any malpractices and raising the international ranking of the Port of Alexandria and Egyptian ports in general. The organization's delegation emphasized that the continuous development of the operational system enhances the image of the Port of Alexandria as the largest seaport in the Arab Republic of Egypt, a major gateway for Egyptian maritime transport, and a pivotal logistics hub in the Mediterranean region, thus supporting global trade and supply chains. The Alexandria Port Authority affirms its continued cooperation with relevant international organizations and its adoption of best global practices, in line with the Egyptian government's directives to develop the maritime transport sector and strengthen the global standing of Egyptian ports.
