A high-level Saudi delegation visits the Alexandria Port Authority to discuss enhancing cooperation in maritime transport and logistics.

As part of the second day of meetings of the Egyptian-Saudi Technical Committee, the Alexandria Port Authority received a high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in the fields of maritime transport, ports, and logistics services. This reflects the depth of the fraternal relations and strategic partnership that unites the two brotherly countries. The visit began with an expanded meeting attended by Rear Admiral A.H., Head of the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector, and Rear Admiral / Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, along with members of the Saudi delegation and a number of leaders from the maritime transport sector and the Authority. During the meeting, Rear Admiral / Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, welcomed the Saudi delegation, emphasizing that cooperation between the two sides in the maritime transport and ports sector represents one of the most important pillars of economic integration between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This cooperation enjoys the support and patronage of the political leadership in both countries and contributes to strengthening trade and regional and international supply chains. The meeting also included a review of several topics of mutual interest and an exploration of prospects for technical, operational, and logistical cooperation between the two sides, in light of global economic changes and the importance of building logistical partnerships capable of achieving integration between Egyptian and Saudi ports. The Alexandria Port Authority gave a presentation highlighting the key features and capabilities of the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila, and the unprecedented development projects undertaken in recent years. These projects encompassed specialized terminals, infrastructure, and logistics zones, in addition to logistical connectivity projects, logistics corridors, and a multimodal transport system, all of which enhance the port's position as a major hub for trade and logistics in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The presentation also addressed the latest developments in the ongoing cooperation between the Alexandria Port Authority and the Saudi Ports Authority, most notably the joint memorandum of understanding, the technical drafting of which has been agreed upon, paving the way for its signing in the near future. This will usher in a new phase of executive cooperation in the technical, operational, investment, and logistical fields. The visit concluded with a field tour of the port, including the passenger terminal and the "Tahya Misr" multipurpose terminal. The Saudi delegation was briefed on the advanced operational and technological capabilities of both terminals and the significant progress achieved by the Alexandria Port Authority in developing infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of maritime and logistical services, in accordance with the latest international standards. This visit comes within the framework of ongoing coordination between Egypt and Saudi Arabia and reflects their shared desire to elevate cooperation in the maritime transport and ports sector, supporting economic development goals and strengthening logistical integration between the two brotherly nations.
