The Alexandria Port Authority hosted a high-level Spanish delegation to enhance maritime and trade connectivity, logistics cooperation, and explore joint investments.

In line with the directives of His Excellency Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, to strengthen international cooperation and develop partnerships with global ports, the Alexandria Port Authority hosted a high-level meeting to enhance economic, logistical, and maritime cooperation between Egypt and Spain. The meeting was co-chaired by Rear Admiral Hussein El-Geziry, Head of the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector, and Mr. Rubén Ibáñez Bordúno, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Port of Castellón Authority. Also participating were Rear Admiral Ehab Salah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, and Mr. Enrique Verdagué, Economic and Commercial Advisor of the Kingdom of Spain in Cairo. The meeting also included representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Damietta Port Authority, the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, and several Spanish companies. The meeting comes within the framework of the distinguished Egyptian-Spanish relations and the shared commitment to developing cooperation between the two sides, as well as strengthening the partnership between Egyptian and Spanish ports. This partnership aims to support international trade and connect supply chains between Europe, North Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean. Holding the meeting at the Port of Alexandria reflects its pivotal role in the Egyptian maritime transport system, in addition to its existing cooperative relationships with several Spanish ports, which have culminated in the signing of memoranda of understanding for joint cooperation. The meeting included a review of economic and logistical cooperation opportunities between Egypt and the Port of Castellón. All parties discussed developing trade and joint investments through maritime transport and logistics hubs, in line with the state's vision to transform Egypt into a regional center for transport, logistics, and transit trade. The meeting also explored opportunities for cooperation in the field of cruise ships and maritime tourism. This included developing cruise ship traffic, exchanging expertise, and exploring cooperation opportunities between ports and relevant authorities, all of which support the growth of maritime tourism and enhance the economic benefits of this sector. At the conclusion of the meeting, both the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector and the Alexandria Port Authority emphasized the importance of continued coordination and joint efforts to translate the discussions into practical steps and further develop cooperation with Spanish ports. The meeting concluded with a field visit by the Castellón Port delegation and the Spanish trade delegation to the Alexandria Port Authority, allowing them to gain firsthand knowledge of the port's operational capabilities, infrastructure, and ongoing development projects.
