Bulk vessels topped the ships that witnessed an increase during the month of March compared to February by 91%, followed by ferries by 83.2%, then general cargo vessels by 41.3%. The authority also witnessed a significant increase in container ships during the month of March, as 153 container ships called the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila, with an increase of 42 vessels compared to February, which had reached 111 container ships. Thus, the percentage of the achieved increase in container ships is 37.8%. Dry bulk vessels also witnessed an increase of 29% during the month of March 2023 compared to the previous month, in addition to the reception of four cruise ships by the berths of the tourist passenger terminal during the same month. In a related context, the annual comparison indicators also indicate a significant increase in ship traffic during March 2023 compared to March 2022, especially in container ships, which achieved an increase of 50%, with a difference of 51 container ships over the same month of last year. Liquid bulk vessels also achieved an increase of 5% during March 2023 compared to March 2022, as well as tourism ships, which amounted to 4 vessels compared to 1 vessel in March last year, and thus the total vessel movement during March 2023 reached to be 404 vessels compared to 371 vessels during the month.
