The Alexandria Port Authority, headed by Major General Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hawash - Chairman of the Board of Directors, received a delegation from the International Maritime Organization, headed by Mr. Ivaylo Valev, Director of the Eastern European, North African and Middle East Division for Technical Cooperation at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), in light of the ongoing preparations for the opening of the IMO Regional Office in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The IMO delegation was accompanied by specialists from both the Alexandria Port Authority and the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety. Both sides emphasized their keenness to consolidate the bonds of cooperation between the Ministry of Transport, represented by the Egyptian Maritime Transport System with all its entities, and the International Maritime Organization, which will contribute to achieving the highest international standards in the performance of work and operation in Egyptian ports and raising their international classification among the major global ports. In the same context, the Alexandria Port Authority introduced its capabilities and operational capacities and the major national developments and investment projects it is witnessing, which will have a great impact on developing the Egyptian maritime transport system and supporting the national economy, leading to achieving the strategic vision of the political leadership and the directives of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, to transform Egyptian ports into a global center for trade, transport and logistics.
