The Prime Minister inspects the projects being implemented in the port of Dekheila

  The Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, inspected the progress of work on the projects being implemented in the port, accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, Lieutenant-General / Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Major General/ Mohamed Al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, and the two deputy governors, Dr. Ahmed Gamal, and Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Rear Admiral Reda Ismail, Head of the Maritime Transport Sector, Major General Nihad Shaheen, President of the Alexandria Port Authority, Major General Hussein Al-Jaziri, President of the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety, and a number of officials from the concerned authorities. At the beginning of his tour in the port, the Prime Minister confirmed that the Egyptian state is currently implementing an integrated plan for the development of Egyptian ports, commissioned by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, through the Ministry of Transport in coordination with the relevant agencies and authorities, where the development is carried out according to the latest international systems to become Egypt. It is a global center for trade and logistics, taking advantage of its strategic location on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. For his part, the Minister of Transport explained that the Egyptian port development projects are being implemented by national Egyptian companies and Egyptian and international consultants, as the total cost of developing Egyptian seaports during the period from (2014-2024) is 129 billion pounds, and the development of Egyptian ports includes the construction of new berths with total lengths 35 km, with depths ranging from 15 to 18 meters, the total lengths of berths in Egyptian seaports reach to be 73 km. The development also includes the construction of breakwaters with a total length of 15 km, in addition to deepening the shipping lanes to accommodate ports 370 million tons instead of 185 million tons annually. , more than 22 million TEUs instead of 12 million TEUs annually; This is in pursuit of the state's objectives to transform Egypt into a center of global trade and logistics. With regard to the projects being implemented in the Dekheila port, Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir referred to the establishment of a multi-purpose terminal at berth 100 at Dekheila Port, with a length of 1,800 meters with a draft (18 meters), a backyard with a width of 600 meters, and a backyard of 1.3 million square meters, within the logistics axis Universal Sokhna - Dekheila; Where the station consists of a container handling station with a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs, and the station is linked to the express train network, within the system of transporting new goods by rail at the state level, and in this regard, the Prime Minister praised the size of the efforts being made to complete the implementation of important projects in this sector stressing the importance of speedy completion of the berth works and its entry into service according to the specified timetables. In addition, a dry bulk station will be established at Dekheila Port, with a quay length of 1150 meters, a depth of 15 meters, and a backyard of 300,000 square meters. During his tour of the Dekheila port, the Prime Minister listened to an explanation from Dr. Hussein Mansour, head of the National Food Safety Authority, about the central examination laboratories in the port, where he explained that it is in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic to immediately start implementing the central examination laboratories in ports and coordinate with the Engineering Authority regarding engineering drawings and buildings And the new facilities for these laboratories. The Alexandria Port Authority has allocated a number of spaces for the National Authority for Food Safety, including a plot of land on an area of 1,200 square meters in Dekheila port for the construction of a food safety and quarantine laboratory, and another space was added to it by 145 square meters and included in the space allocated to it. ; To construct a water and gas depot and an electricity transformer that supplies the factory building with its necessary needs.
