The Alexandria Port Authority received on Monday, January 27, 2025, a high-level Algerian delegation headed by Mr./ Abdelhak Boukhrouba, Director of the Merchant Marine at the Ministry of Transport. The delegation was received by Major General / Tarek Abdullah, Head of the Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector, and Major General Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hawash / Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, and the specialists from both sides. The meeting began with welcoming the delegation and emphasizing Egypt's welcome to the visit of the Algerian brothers and the keenness of the Ministry of Transport, headed by Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir - Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, to achieve full cooperation with the Algerian side in various fields. For its part, the Algerian side expressed its great happiness at its arrival at the port of Alexandria and its aspiration to expand the horizons of cooperation in accordance with the directives of the political leadership in Algeria and exchange experiences and work to enrich the trade movement and shipping lines between the two countries. The meeting discussed a number of important topics related to maritime transport, most notably the operational processes of ships and the associated stay periods, policies and procedures applied in the field of green ports and the environment, and the measures taken in the field of digitization and its impact and connection to smart ports and the connection with the parties working in the port electronically and the impact of this on reducing procedures and speeding up the turnover of ships, as well as the proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding between the port of Alexandria and the Algerian port of Annaba . The two sides concluded the meeting, which included a field tour of the facilities and station of Alexandria Port, by emphasizing the Egyptian-Algerian readiness to support cooperation in all fields, especially in the field of maritime transport and logistics.
