Alexandria Port Authority receives the first voyage of Taiwanese shipping line WAN HAI LINE and the giant container ship MAERSK HONG KONG in a double achievement that reinforces its pivotal position.

In light of the directives of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport and in a new strategic step that embodies the success of the Alexandria Port Authority's efforts, headed by Rear Admiral / Ihab Mohamed Salah, to attract major international shipping lines, the port received for the first time the WAN HAI 311 ship belonging to Taiwanese shipping line WAN HAI LINE. WAN HAI LINE is one of the largest container shipping lines in the world, with a fleet of over 120 vessels serving more than 90 countries worldwide. This step is the culmination of intensive efforts undertaken by the Authority in cooperation with Gulf Agency Egypt Limited and Alexandria Container and Cargo Handling Company, which received the ship at its designated Berth 25. This step aims to expand the shipping network and provide integrated logistics services. This is the first time the Taiwanese line has operated its services to Alexandria Port, reflecting the growing confidence of major maritime companies in the port's readiness and competitiveness. All necessary technical and coordination arrangements have been made to receive the WAN HAI 311, with a gross tonnage of 27,800 tons and a length of 213 meters, reaffirming the authority's ability to keep pace with the rapid growth in global trade. In another equally significant achievement, Alexandria Port also received the giant MAERSK HONG KONG for the first time, the largest of its kind to dock at Alexandria Port to date. With a gross tonnage of approximately 154,000 tons, the ship measures over 353 meters in length and has a draft of 16.7 meters. The ship docked at one of the Tahya Misr Multipurpose Terminal berths, further confirming the capabilities of the port's modern infrastructure. The arrival of the MAERSK HONG KONG ship came less than ten days after the Authority received the giant container ship MSC ANNA at Dekheila Port, reflecting the accelerating pace of maritime achievements and the growing attractiveness of Alexandria ports to the world's largest shipping companies. In this regard, the Alexandria Port Authority had prepared in advance to receive the giant ship, taking all necessary proactive measures as soon as it received notification of the MAERSK HONG KONG's docking schedule at the port. The Maritime Traffic and Services Departments provided all forms of technical and operational support during the towing and pilotage operations, ensuring the highest levels of professionalism and efficiency. The pilots, pilot crews, and marine units affiliated with the Authority were keen to ensure the ship's navigation from its entry into the port until the completion of the berthing and mooring process with the highest levels of safety. All stages of arrival and mooring were monitored by advanced technical systems in the pilot tower, contributing to the smooth completion of the berthing process in record time. The Alexandria Port Authority affirms that attracting such giant maritime entities represents a milestone in the development of the Egyptian logistics system and enhancing the ability of national ports to compete regionally and internationally. This success also reflects the integrated efforts of the Authority and partners from the public and private sectors, in order to achieve the state's goal of making Egypt a global hub for trade and maritime services.
