Within the framework of the integrated efforts of the state agencies concerned with tourism and in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to encourage tourism, and the instructions of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the Alexandria Port, headed by Major General Bahri, Chairman of the Board of Directors, received on the morning of Saturday, May 24, 2025, Two giant cruise ships, the Ms. Norwegian Viva and the Ambience, docked at Alexandria Port in a landmark event that reflects the growing status of Alexandria Port as a global tourist destination. The Ms. Norwegian Viva, coming from Santorini, Greece, docked at the cruise terminal with 4,707 passengers on board, including 3,243 tourists. The ship, operated by Dominion Shipping Agencies, is scheduled to depart on the evening of Sunday, May 25, 2025, bound for Piraeus, Greece. The port also received the ship Ambience, coming from the Greek port of Rhodes, carrying 1,865 passengers, including 1,300 tourists. The ship, operated by Inchcape Shipping Company, departed from the port of Alexandria, heading to the port of Chania on the island of Crete.The two ships were received by a number of leaders from the Alexandria Port Authority, including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, represented by the Regional Tourism Promotion Authority, and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Alexandria Port Police Department. The Authority ensured the safe arrival of the two ships. from the port by tugs and pilot and security launches, with close monitoring of ship movements from the radar guidance tower to ensure the highest levels of safety. The passengers were also received by the General Administration of Passenger Traffic, and their procedures were completed easily and smoothly in just a few minutes. They then began their tour program to visit Alexandria's most prominent tourist, historical, and cultural landmarks. The event was met with a warm welcome, including distinguished artistic performances, and the presentation of souvenirs to passengers and tourists, as part of the Authority's commitment to enhancing the tourist experience and promoting maritime tourism in Egyptian ports.
