As part of the integrated efforts of state tourism agencies, and in implementation of the political leadership's directives to encourage tourism and the instructions of the Ministry of Transport, Alexandria Port welcomed two cruise ships during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, carrying a total of 2,109 passengers at the start of the 2026 season. The ASTORIA GRANDE docked at the passenger terminal on Sunday morning, March 22, 2026, for a tourist visit to the port, carrying 1,118 passengers. Its shipping agent was Gulf Shipping Agencies. The ship departed the port on Monday evening, March 23, 2026, bound for Izmir, Turkey. The port also received the SILVER MUSE on Monday morning, March 23, 2026, carrying 991 passengers. Its shipping agent was Worms Shipping Agencies. The ship departed the port that same evening, bound for Piraeus, Greece. The two ships were received by a number of officials from the Alexandria Port Authority, in coordination with relevant bodies from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Alexandria Port Police Department. The Authority ensured the safe entry and exit of the ships, escorting them from arrival until they docked using tugboats and pilot boats, with close monitoring from the radar pilot tower to guarantee the smooth and safe passage of maritime traffic. Passengers were received by the Passenger Traffic Department, and their procedures were completed smoothly and efficiently, allowing them to enjoy their tours and visit the most prominent tourist, historical, and cultural sites in Alexandria. This comes as part of the Alexandria Port Authority's commitment to supporting and promoting cruise tourism and enhancing the position of Egyptian ports on the global tourism map.
