Within the framework of the integrated efforts of the state agencies concerned with tourism and in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to encourage tourism, and the instructions of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir - Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, the Port of Alexandria, headed by Major General Bahri, Chairman of the Board of Directors, received two giant cruise ships within two days, namely the cruise ship Norwegian Viva and the ship Niew Statendam.In a prominent event that reflects the growing status of Alexandria Port as a global tourist destination.The Norwegian Viva, coming from the Greek port of Santorini, docked at the cruise terminal on the morning of Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with 4,554 passengers on board, including 3,234 tourists. The ship is operated by Dominion Shipping Agencies and departed the port on the evening of Wednesday, September 24, 2025.Heading to the Cypriot port of Limassol. The port also received the Niew Statendam on Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, coming from Malta, carrying 3,606 passengers, including 2,600 tourists. The ship, operated by Inchcape Shipping, is scheduled to depart the port on Friday evening, September 26, 2025, bound for Cyprus.The two ships were received by a number of leaders from the Alexandria Port Authority, including representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Tourism, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Alexandria Governorate, represented by the Regional Tourism Promotion Authority, and the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Alexandria Port Police General Administration.The Authority ensured the safe arrival of the two ships and their escort from their entry into the port using tugs and pilot and security launches, with close monitoring of ship movements from the radar guidance tower to ensure the highest levels of safety. The passengers were also received by the General Directorate of Passenger Movement, and their procedures were completed smoothly and conveniently in just a few minutes.To begin their tour program, they visited Egypt's most prominent tourist, historical, and cultural landmarks. The event was warmly welcomed, including distinguished artistic performances by the Storm band, led by artist Ahmed Heikal. Souvenirs were also presented to passengers and tourists, as part of the Authority's commitment to enhancing the tourist experience and promoting maritime tourism in Egyptian ports.
