The Alexandria Port Authority, headed by Rear Admiral Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors, succeeded in achieving the highest monthly rates of ship traffic during the holy month of Ramadan, corresponding to March 2025. The number of ships calling at the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila reached an unprecedented 472, an increase of 40 ships over the previous month, representing a 9.2% increase. Container ships led the cargo ship traffic growth during March, with a total of 195 vessels, a 29.1% increase compared to February. General cargo ships ranked second in terms of growth during March 2025, with a 23.3% increase compared to February, bringing the total number of vessels to 132. The Alexandria Port Passenger Terminal docks received three cruise ships during March 2025, and this rate is expected to increase in the coming months. This unprecedented increase in the frequency of ships at the Alexandria and Dekheila ports comes amid the close monitoring by Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, of the operational activity at Egyptian ports, as they are important strategic outlets through which goods that Egyptian markets depend are handled, and through which Egyptian products are exported to global markets. For his part, Major General Ahmed Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, praised the efforts of the Authority’s employees and their dedication in performing the tasks assigned to them, especially in the Ship Movement Departments, the Guidance Tower, Marine Services, and others, which led to this boom in the operational movement of ships during the holy month of Ramadan, during which the Authority was keen to continue work around the clock and follow the highest levels of professionalism in providing marine services to ships, including towing, guidance, mooring, and security, by means of the port’s fleet of marine units and the distinguished human competencies it possesses.
