On Thursday, January 16, 2025, Major General / Nehad Shahin - Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport witnessed the final signing of the contract to grant the commitment to establish and develop the superstructure, use, manage, operate, exploit, maintain and redeliver an integrated logistics station for handling and storing clean dry bulk goods on berth no. 85/3 in Alexandria Port with Egypt Holland Stevedoring Services Company (EDSCO). The signing was done on behalf of the Alexandria Port Authority by Major General / Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, and on behalf of Egypt Holland Stevedoring Services Company (EDSCO), Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Hassan, CEO of Egypt Holland Stevedoring Services Company (EDSCO). Major General/ Ahmed Abdel Moaty Hawash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority, stated that this signing comes within the framework of the directives of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, towards the ministry implementing a comprehensive plan to develop the Egyptian maritime transport system and seaports, including the Alexandria Port Authority, in order to achieve the strategic vision of the political leadership that aims to transform Egypt into a major hub for trade and logistics and to complete the giant projects currently being implemented in the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila, which are expected to be completed to make the Greater Alexandria Port one of the most important hubs for maritime transport and logistics on the Mediterranean and a link between the continent of Africa and the continents of Asia and Europe. He added that the implementation of this project is within the framework of the integrated plan to develop the Greater Alexandria Port, which aims to complete various projects, whether related to increasing the capacity or supporting the operational capabilities to reach the Alexandria Port Authority to a capacity exceeding 120 million tons annually of various types of goods, while achieving integration and interconnection with various projects in other Egyptian ports, as well as full connectivity with multi-modal land, river and railway transportation. In the same context, the Chairman of the Alexandria Port Authority explained that the project to establish an integrated logistics station for handling and storing clean dry bulk goods on the 85/3 sea berth in the Alexandria Port aims to increase the handling and storage capacity of grains and crops by 5 million tons annually. It is worth noting that the project was started by Egyco Company as of June 2016 and was completed in December 2022 with an area of 35 thousand square meters with a quay length of 514 meters and a depth of 15 meters, allowing ships up to 70 thousand tons to be berthed.
