The Alexandria Port Authority achieved a significant leap in ship traffic during 2024/2025, reaching an unprecedented 6,932 vessel calls, compared to 6,738 vessels in 2023/2024, representing a 2.8% increase with a total of 194 additional vessels.In this context, liquid bulk vessels topped the list of vessels that witnessed a significant increase during the year 2024/2025, with an increase of approximately 30.8% compared to the year 2023/2024, as 712 vessels were received, compared to 544 vessels in the previous year. Dry bulk vessel calls also increased by approximately 4.7% in 2024/25 compared to 2023/24, with 1,321 vessels being received, compared to 1,261 vessels in the previous year.Ferry traffic also increased significantly in 2024/25, increasing by approximately 2.3% compared to 2023/24. Container ships ranked fourth, with a 1% increase. Tourism traffic at the Port of Alexandria also increased, with more than 33,000 passengers arriving in 2024/25, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. In a related context, another unprecedented increase was achieved in the rates of handling various types of goods, as the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila achieved a handling volume of 74.8 million tons of goods during the year 2024/2025, an increase of 14% over the previous year, with a difference of 9.2 million tons, and the percentage of exports increased by more than 17%. Liquid bulk cargoes saw the largest increase in volume during 2024/25, increasing by 50% to 10.2 million tons, compared to 6.8 million tons in 2023/24. Dry bulk cargo volumes also witnessed a significant increase, with total volume traded during 2024/25 reaching approximately 30.6 million tons, compared to the previous year's volume of 27.5 million tons, a 12% increase.General cargo ranked third in terms of trading volume, reaching 8.5 million tons during 2024/2025, a 10% increase over 2023/2024. The number of containers handled during the same period reached 2.3 million TEUs, compared to 2 million TEUs in the previous year, a 12% increase. These increases in trading rates and navigation traffic come in light of the Alexandria Port Authority’s implementation of the directives of Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and the port’s implementation of a number of major projects, as well as the Alexandria Port Authority’s keenness to achieve professionalism in business performance.Providing all means of technical and operational support during towing and guidance operations by pilots, guidance crews and marine units, as well as follow-up and monitoring through advanced technical systems in the guidance tower, and the Authority’s employees following advanced technology methods to quickly complete procedures related to the docking and departure of ships, raising the standard rates for loading and unloading operations, and the continuous effort to reduce congestion.At the port, we continuously preserve the environment, fully adhere to occupational health and safety requirements, and respond immediately to any requirements or performance developments that would achieve Egypt's 2030 vision of transforming Egypt into a global hub for transportation and logistics.
