The port of Alexandria witnessed a significant increase in most types of ships during the month of June 2023 compared to June 2022, as the number of ships reached 410 ships, an increase of 71 ships over the same month of the previous year, an increase of approximately 21%. General cargo ships were at the forefront of cargo ships, which witnessed a significant increase during the month of June 2023 compared to June 2022, which achieved an increase of 66%, with a difference of 64 cargo ships from the same month of last year. Container ships, in turn, witnessed a significant increase during the month of June 2023 compared to June 2022, by 28 additional vessels, achieving an increase of more than 24.3%. In the same context, dry bulk vessels also witnessed an increase of 5 additional vessels during the month of June of this year compared to the same month of the previous year, with an increase of 11%. Tourist ships, in turn, witnessed an active movement, as 3 cruise ships arrived during the month of June of this year, while June of the previous year did not witness the arrival of cruise ships. In a related context, the movement of navigation and the handling of goods witnessed a remarkable activity in the ports of Alexandria and Dekheila during the past 48 hours, as the number of arrival and departure ships reached 50 ships, while work is currently underway to load and unload 43 ships, and 204.6 thousand tons of goods of various kinds and approximately 2600 equivalent containers were handled.
