The Alexandria Port Authority managed to achieve a remarkable leap in both the movement of ships and the quantities of handled goods during the month of February 2021 compared to what was achieved during the same month of last year, as the percentage of increase in total ship traffic during February 2021 reached 17.6%, liquid bulk ships highest of ships type, which witnessed an increase compared to February of 2020, with an increase of 56%, followed by dry bulk ships by 50% In the same time, the increase in total handed cargoes amounted to 16%, on top of which is liquid bulk cargoes by 52.1% compared to February of last year, then general cargoes by 26% and dry bulk by 24%, a total of 5.2 million tons of cargo were handled during February 2021, On the other hand, Alexandria Port Authority witnessed within one month a significant increase in shipping traffic and quantity of handling during the month of February of this year compared to January of the same year, by 21% of cargoes movements, by 13% of ships movements, this increase is due to the continuous follow-up by the concerned departments to the commitment of ships to implement the standard rates of stevedoring operations, as well as the speed of the turnover rates of the berths and the reduction of waiting and mooring times for ships under the instructions of Captain \ Tarek Shaheen – Chairman of A.P.A he stressed keep the increase of achieved rates in the handling & navigation movements, even strengthening them during the coming months, while commitment to all security, safety and environmental standards. 22/3/2021
