Speeding up the stevedoring operations in Alexandria port and increasing the degree of readiness to receive all cargoes while taking all precautionary procedures to protect from the risks of Covid 19 virus.

  Captain Tarek Shaheen \ Chairman of Alexandria Port, held a meeting with his deputies and the heads of the central departments of the port through visual telecommunications equipment, where he emphasized relying on electronic operations as much as possible to reduce direct dealion in order to avoid the spread of infection. Captain \ Shaheen stressed to the specialists the necessity of the port's readiness and exceptional capabilities to receive all cargoes and facilitate their smooth and safe exit and entry to and from the port to ensure their availability in the markets, while stressing that all precautionary procedures are taken to protect from the risks of Covid 19 virus. Reda El-Ghandour, the spokesman for the port, said that the Alexandria and Dekheila ports are witnessing an activity 24 hours a day without stopping as the normal work movement in the operations center continues, the loading and unloading work, the movement of ships, trucks and marine parts, the movement of cargoes, the control of squares, the electronic system, and the insurance of individuals and facilities The number of vessels operating in the port reached 36 ships, 19 ships arrived, 19 ships traveled, 23 ships were in the outer anchor, and 5 ships in the internal anchor. This total cargo handled in the port during the past twenty-four hours reached 520 thousand tons. Al-Ghandour added that 5 potato ships with a total of 7500 tons, two onion ships with a total of 3300 tons, a urea ship with a total of 18,000 tons, a Molass ship with a total of 8,500 tons, and a jet fuel ship with a total of 27,000 tons are being exported, and 21 cargo ships including 9 grain ships are being unloaded With a total of 352 thousand tons, bringing the total stock of cereals in the port to 1.1 million tons (one million and one hundred thousand tons), including 380 thousand tons of wheat, and 3 soda ash ships, a cement ship, and five wood ships with 44 thousand metric tons on board are also being unloaded, in addition to A number of ships unloading petroleum products, the number of exported containers reached 797 TEUs, and the number of containers received 1257 TEUs, 9843 general trucks were entered and exited to and from the port.
