he Minister of Transport continues to complete the work of unloading the first group of new railway passenger vehicles in Alexandria Port as part of a deal to manufacture and supply 1300 new railway vehicles for passengers

  Lieutenant General Engineer \ Minister of Transport: The deal is one of the results of the huge contracts that were concluded based on the directions of His Excellency President \ Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to create a significant and comprehensive shift in the service provided to the public passengers by railroad. The Minister of Transport, Lt. Gen. Engineer / Kamel El-Wazir, followed the completion of the work of unloading the first group of the 22 new passenger railroad vehicles third class with dynamic ventilation at Alexandria Port, as part of a deal to manufacture and supply 1300 new railway vehicles for passengers, whose total cost amounted to one billion, 16 million and 50 thousand Euros. The Minister of Transport stated that this deal is one of the results of the huge contracts that were concluded based on the directives of His Excellency President \ Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Republic, to make a major and comprehensive quality shift in the service provided to the public passengers by railways. Adding that, besides the 1300 new vehicle deal, which is considered the largest deal in the history of the Egyptian railways, the contract was also for the supply of 6 integrated trains in addition to a 6-year maintenance contract with the Spanish company Talgo with a value of 157 million Euros and the first train of this deal is expected to arrive in March 2021 Pointing out that in parallel with these new deals, the current fleet of passenger railway vehicles is being developed, where 200 ordinary vehicles are being developed in cooperation with the Semaph factory, and rehabilitation of 90 Spanish vehicles has been completed in Abu Radi workshops. Lieutenant General Engineer / Kamel Al-Wazir, The Minister of Transport, stated that the deal will contribute of raising the efficiency of the daily operations, the regularity of operating schedules, achieving a enormous leap and a gigantic qualitative shift in the level of service provided to the public passengers, especially as this coincides with projects to modernize the infrastructure work of the authority that is being implemented from a signals systems, the development of railroad junction and the renewal of railroad bars, Pointing out that all these procedures and projects that the Ministry is implementing will result in increased safety and security rates in the operation of trains. 25/06/2020
